System:Isometric
Name:For its structural resemblance to diamond. Note that this is a commonly used name for this compound in the chemical and petroleum industries, but has not been approved by the IMA as a mineral species name.

A tricyclic hydrocarbon with face-centered cubic lattice - very unusual for an organic compound. Minute octahedral crystals are naturally occuring in some petroleum deposits. Isolated from Czech petroleum in 1933, and from U.S. petroleum in the late 1950s. Much studied by the petroleum industry (but not yet by mineralogists?).
