| Name: | For the elemental composition, and to differentiate it from normal alpha-sulphur. |
|---|
A metastable allotrope of native sulphur which slowly reverts to crystalline alpha-sulphur. Structure is helical, with 8 atoms per spiral. Formed when liquid sulphur is rapidly quenched (as when a sulphur flow runs into water).
