Name:Named by A.G. Werner in 1811 and derived from the German word "spreu" = awn, due to its colour and appearance.
A variety of Natrolite

A fine-grained Natrolite replacing a hydrothermally altered Sodalite and/or Nepheline. Not uncommon in some nepheline-syenite pegmatites.
