Derivative of mayenite.
Water-free analogue of kyuygenite.

A considerable number of reported "mayenites" may in fact be brearleyite according to Galushkin et al. (2010).

Type Locality:NWA 1934 CV3 Carbonaceous chondrite meteorite, Rissani, Erfoud (Erfud), Er Rachidia Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
General Appearance of Type Material:Fine-grained aggregates.
Place of Conservation of Type Material:Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C., USA: USNM 7590.
Geological Setting of type material:In a krotite dominant refractory inclusion from a carbonaceous chondrite meteorite.
