A variety of Fluorite
Yttrofluorite is a variety of fluorite containing an appreciable amount of yttrium (Y) taking the place of calcium (Ca) anions in the fluorite structure. Nineteenth century identifications of yttrofluorite are generally only purple fluorite without any yttrium. Yttrofluorite is not commonly purple.
Originally reported from Hundholmen, Tysfjord, Nordland, Norway. [Precise locality not mentioned in Vogt 1911, but first in Vogt 1923.]
See also yttrocerite.
