Zillerite (of Fersman)

Synonym of:Hornblende-asbestos


An obsolete name for hornblende-asbestos (usually tremolite or actinolite) from the Ziller valley, Tyrol, Austria, coined by Fersman in 1912 to distingusih it from palygorskite from the same area. Sometimes, this name is erroneously used as a synonym to Zillertite.
