Jerome Fisher in honor of Edson Sunderland Bastin [December 10, 1878 Chicago, Illinois, USA - October 9, 1953], geologist specializing in granite pegmatites and ore textures in sulfide ore deposits, with the U. S,. Geological Survey and later professor at University of Chicago, Illinois, USA.
