Name:First found by Gustav Flink in 1897 at Naujakasik, Ilimaussaq complex, Greenland, and provisionally named " a cappelenite-like mineral". Described and named by Chr. Winther (1901). Named after the greek (brithos) for weight, refering to the high specific gravity of the mineral.
