Name:Named by Thomas Nuttall in 1822 relating to minerals found at Hoboken, New Jersey, USA. Named from the Greek word "marmalos" meaning "pearly" as the mineral has a pearly to metallic luster.
Synonym of:Chrysotile, Lizardite
A variety of Serpentine Group

Light green pearly serpentine which may show a somewhat laminated fracture pattern.
