Mongolite

Locality: Dorozhnyi pegmatite, Khan Bogdo (Khan-Bogdinskii) massif, Gobi Desert, Mongolia

12x10 mm fragment of the polished section of Mongolite agregate. Shape of grains of the unknown protomineral, after which mongolite form pseudomorphoses, is well visible. All they are cemented by transparent Quartz. Black spots are disperse manganese oxides. More violet grains in NE corner of image possible contain new unpublished niobosilicate Kovalenkoite.
