Allanite Pegmatite

Locality: Rollstone Hill Quarry, Fitchburg, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, USA

A narrow allanite type pegmatite consisting of quartz and allanite-(Ce). The radioactive allanite has been altered to an orange-brown color. Radiating cracks around some of the allanite crystals are visible in the quartz. Photo by Peter Cristofono, September 2004.
