Althausite, Magnesite

Locality: Overntjern Quarry, Modum, Buskerud, Norway

Part of a distorted crystal of althausite embedded in white magnesite matrix. With hematite (on the right)and some green serpentine group mineral. The somewhat reddish colour of the althausite is due to partly alterating to apatite. Size of piece: 6 cm x 3,5 cm. Knut Edvard Larsen photo and collection (# 281): Selfcollected in 1977.
