The enstatite crystal measures 0.9 mm in height and when viewed along different crystallographic axes, exhibits distinct dichroism from greenish to amber brown . Pure enstatite is not dichroic but becomes so when Fe joins the Mg in the chemical composition. Collected by Kelly Starnes, 8/14/03. Photomicrograph by Saul Krotki (.0473).
