Fluorite, Galena

Locality: Lafayette Mine (Tabb No. 1 shaft; Wheatcroft shaft; Brownward shaft), Frances, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Crittenden Co., Kentucky, USA

Fluorite on a limestone matrix with minor galena. Purple fluorite cubes are rare on the dumps. This specimen was soaked in dilute HCl to remove damaged calcite crystals that obscured some of the better fluorite. Alan Goldstein specimen (6609) and photo.
