Calcite and fluorite pseudomorph after water! This shows an area where various size droplets of water were positioned in the oil between the calcite and fluorite. At some point before or after the oil dried (creating bitumen), the water droplets were replaced by calcite and fluorite (upper right). The specimen broke along the contact where the bitumen separated the calcite and fluorite. The spherical droplets remained leaving mounds in the calcite. The largest droplet at the bottom is cracked and is actually a bubble! Field of view is about 4 mm. Specimen collected in 1983. Alan Goldstein specimen (FL23) and photo.
