The Håkonhals Quarry is a granite pegmatite that are mined for superclean quartz. It is the only quarry still in operation where yttrofluorite can be found in the Nordland county. Yttrofluorite from other localities in the area can be rich in rare minerals. But unfortunately the yttrofluorite at this locality does not contain any rare minerals. The most interesting mineral that can be found here is the rare uranium mineral petscheckite as black masses up to 10 cm. Massiv petscheckite with a brown rim of radiated feldspar can be seen in situ on the quarry wall. The photo was taken in 2006.
