Quartz (Var: Chalcedony)

Locality: Live Oak pit (Keystone; Joe Bush; Ox Hide; Thornton; Red Hill; Cyprus Miami), Inspiration Mine, Miami-Inspiration deposit, Inspiration, Miami-Inspiration District, Globe-Miami District, Gila Co., Arizona, USA

11.9 x 8.4 x 6.5 cm. You can see how this silky, translucent, botryoidal chalcedony has formed over a thick seam of banded malachite, in this large pocket that wraps around a central area where the chalcedony botryoids have joined to form a solid wall. The Miami (Arizona) area is known for its copper minerals, and this is an interesting and pretty association piece. Ex. Elling collection.
