Beryl (Var: Aquamarine), Albite

A beautiful terminated aquamarine crystal on matrix of albite; collected by Geary Murdock and purportedly from his "Centerville" locality, which has now been disproven. This was one of the only matrix aquamarines he found at the site where his best aquas came from; once on a much larger matrix, I acquired this from Geary in Tuscon in 1984 and trimmed to its present size. The termination of this crystal is highly modified, exhibiting several orders of the pyramids and the basal pinacoid. The most obvious face on the termination is the first-order pyramid. Overall size 2.6 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm; the aqua is 2.0 x 0.5 x 0.45 cm.
