Isoferroplatinum

Locality: Jerusalem Creek, Woodburn, Fifield, Cunningham Co., New South Wales, Australia

Back sides of the same two micronuggets of Isoferroplatinum 112.3 mg (left) and 72.4 mg (right). The mineral is very weak magnetic. Note its specific light silvery colour very different from nickel-like Tulameenites from the same placer. Composition of the specimens are (Pt_3.04Rh_0.11)_3.15(Fe_0.58Cu_0.25Ni_0.02)_0.85 (left) and Pt_2.97Fe_1.03 (right). Both specimens have imprints of octahedral chromspinelide crystals.
