Aegirine

Aegirine : NaFe3+[Si2O6]

This image has been released to the public domain and may be used freely.
Self collected by Modris Baum August 1999. FOV 1.6 x 1.1 cm. Here are some nice "pointy" aegirine xls from a miarolitic cavity. The xls are actually dark gray but are largely covered by a somewhat shiny black amorphous coating. This can be seen more clearly in the child photo.
The gray xl with a flat top (rhs) is either sphalerite or cordylite-(Ce) but it is coated (not with the same black stuff) so it is hard to tell.
