Thomsenolite, a monoclinic pseudo-cubic mineral, has a nearly square cross section when viewed down the c axis. The cubic appearance is here enhanced by the ocher iron stain. Thomsenolite can be distinguished from its dimorph, pachnolite, which, when viewed down the c axis, has a noticeable less square cross section. Study specimens were provided by OT Ljostad of Elverum, Norway. Photomicrograph © Saul Krotki 2004 (.0567.1). Field of view 2.0 mm. Krotki Micromount Collection.
