Large Calcite crystals with bright orange coating of iron impurities. Specimen from the classic Orange Pocket at the Delta Carbonate Quarry, York, York Co., Pennsylvania. The coatings of Iron impurities on these crystals were fairly consistant throughout this huge pocket deposit and added a striking coloration to the specimens. A truly astonishing find discovered in October of 2000 by Bryon Brookmeyer. Specimen size: 6 x 4.5cm. From the PA Annex of my personal collection, acquired in 2003.
