This is the miarolitic cavity I found in 1986 that had a large aquamarine crystal in it; note very weathered surface on the granite outcrop. Even though the pocket opening is only about 14 inches across, I spotted it from hundreds of feet away. When I climbed up the cliff face, I could see two "crystals" lying in ther otherwise nearly-empty vug. I grabbed one and climbed down to inspect it, as it was covered with dense white clay and at first I thought it was a microcline crystal. In the sunlight I could see it was blue underneath the clay! The other crystal was the other half of this one, which in total measured 7.5 inches in length and 1.5 in diameter. All the beryl from this pocket was deeply etched, but a fine, deep blue color, almost cobalt blue. Photo was taken in 1987, as I had no camera with me in 1986.
