Braunite II with Hausmannite on Andradite Garnet. Vasco Trancoso collection and photo. Size: 7.2 x 5.8 x 2.6 cm with crystals up to 2cm. Braunite II was found in Kalahari Mn Fields as bipyramidal crystals with complex terminations at Black Rock, N´Cwanning II and at Wessels - where in 1995 were found crystals up to 3cm, associated with red Andradite and Haussmanite. This is the only locality in the world where macroscopic Braunite II crystals occured. This aesthetic large specimen features sharp crystals, 1 doubly-terminated on glistening garnet background. A single sharp Hausmannite of about 1 cm on top is a nice accent.
