Chalcedony (Var: Jasper), Hematite

Locality: Orenburgskaya Oblast', Southern Urals, Urals Region, Russia

Polished section of jasper specimen 16x13x3 cm size. Such sort of jasper mined in Orsk city region, so it traditionaly called "Orsk Jasper" (Орская яшма), but it may be find in some other parts of Southern Ural. I am like this piece very much and see on it Portuguese sailing vessel arrive to Yellow sea shore. Upper dark-coloured layers are composed by granular hematite. Pavel M.
