Helvite and smoky quartz vug

Locality: Benedict Creek area (Devil's Den), Sawtooth Batholith/Sawtooth Mts, Boise Co., Idaho, USA

A typical Sawtooth batholith miarolitic cavity; screwdriver for scale. This vug contained a few specimens of smoky quartz and albite; when I got them home, I found a nice tetrahedron of brown helvite on one matrix. Photo taken July 1994.
