Cordierite, Anhydrite, Chalcopyrite

4.1 x 3.1 x 2.7 cm. These robust cordierite crystals to 1.2 cm in size have a jet black color, waxy lustre, and excellent crystal form. They are embedded and partially excavated from glassy, lavender anhydrite and massive, golden chalcopyrite to set off the crystals even more starkly. A very rare combination from this much less well-known copper-zinc-silver mine. Ex.a Ian Nicklin Collection, and he is now a curator at the Royal Ontario Museum.
