EDS spectra of knebelite and associating FeMn-pyroxene.

EDS spectra of knebelite (upper) and associating FeMn-pyroxene (lower). Their empirical formulas are (Mn1.13Fe0.80Mg0.07)2.00[SiO4] for knebelite what is equal to Tph56.5Fa40Fo3.5 and (Fe1.20Mn0.57Mg0.23)2.00[Si2O6] for probably new Fe-Mn member of pyroxene group. Its composition is equal to 60 at.% of ferrosilite, 11 at.% of enstatite and 29 at.% of new unnamed end member MnSiO3. Probably chemical formula of the new pyroxene may be (Fe,Mg)(Mn,Fe)[Si2O6], similar to another new pyroxene described from Tazheran massif - ferrodonpeacorite (Mg,Fe)(Mn,Fe)[Si2O6]. Pavel M.
