Specimen size is 10.0 x 6.5 x 6.0 cm. A most remarkable specimen. Some years ago while looking through waste rock at the site, I picked up a large piece of darkened quartz with a small cavity. Being dusk and to dim to examine it closely I actually brought it home not thinking very much of it. A few days later it was brought out into the sunlight! Just like Lefty Grove said, "I'd rather be lucky than good." Two days of trimming and fondling revealed this incredible columbite-(Fe) with an inter-grown muscovite all on a partial pocket matrix of quartz. It was shear luck. The columbite measures 4.0 x 3.0 x 1.0 cm. This self collected specimen was photographed by and is in the collection of Ron Gyllenhammer as SCM00181.
