Aquamarine pocket #1

Aquamarine pocket #1

This picture shows what this pocket looked like as I found it, minus the pieces at the right. At first, this vug was barely a narrow slit, not large enough to admit my fingers; I hammered off the matrix seen at right and immediately found two nice aquamarine crystals (to the left of the matrix specimen). The vug opening was still too narrow to admit my hand; you can barely see the smoky quartz crystal at the left of the opening, pointing downward and effectively blocking any of the contents from sliding out. A little more hammering on the upper wall removed this matrix specimen, which can be seen in the final pictures of this series.
