Gypsum

Locality: Schimmelberg, Zillingtal, Pöttsching, Mattersburg, Burgenland, Austria

This specimen consists of light brown, translucent gypsum blades to 1.4 cm width. A few small breaks and minor edge wear -- surprisingly little damage considering the softness of this mineral. Greenish white fluorescence under shortwave UV, with phosphorescence for at least two seconds after the light is removed.

Specimen size: 5.6 x 3.4 x 2.2 cm (2.2 x 1.3 x 0.9 inches)
