Chlorophyllite from the "type locality." Originally described as a new mineral by Charles Jackson in 1841, it is actually a pinite-like alteration product of cordierite. The specimen pictured here was in the collection of J. D. Whitney who analyzed chlorophyllite for Jackson. Specimen is about 5 cm across. Harvard Mineralogical Museum, no. 85305. P.
