Hematite

Locality: Louise Mine, Greimerath, Kell am See, Hunsrück, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

An old timer specimen probably from the late 1930s/early 1940s when the mine was operated a last time. Reniform hematite as 'kidney ore' with an old label perched on it. This one can compete IMHO with the famous cumbrian specimens albeit from a less known locality. Width of the specimen 14.5 cm.
