Carrollite, Chalcopyrite, Dolomite

Locality: Kamoya South II Mine (Kamoya Sud Mine; Kamoya South Mine), Kamoya, Kambove District, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre)

This 6x7 cm specimen has a Carrollite octo nearly 2 cm in size. Much larger xls came from here, but tended to fall out of the matrix during blasting. Note that "octo" faces are actually trisoctahedral and the "cube" faces are actually tetrahexahedral. (Helen Tyson photo, RWMW collection)
