Kurnakovite

Kurnakovite : Mg(H4B3O7)(OH) · 5H2O

Kurnakovite. R. Currier collection. The scale at the bottom of the image is an inch with a rule at one cm. Kurnakovite crystals tend to turn white on their surface in big city air. Perhaps we will find out some day what is forming on their surface. Kurnakovite crystals were only found during the very early days of open pit mining at Boron. Several hundred specimens were collected at various times but you don't often see one for sale.
