The garnets from the primary pegmatites in the general Evje/Iveland area are all of intermediate composition between almandine and spessartine, often with some Y2O3. Most of then have Mn>Fe and can be called spessartine. At the Steli quarry the almandine component has been dominant in the analysed samples.
