A natural matrix consisting of two superb double terminated gray color sapphire crystals on biotite mica schist; from the San Jacinto Mountains, Riverside County, California, USA. Specimen measures 120x100x72mm overall, and weighs 520.0 grams, while the sapphire crystals measure 111x11x11mm and 70x8x9mm respectively. This area is considered among the best corundum localities in the United States. Very few examples are recovered that have more then one crystal on the matrix. This specimen has been repaired, which is typical for the size and quality. Produced by Ken and Dana Gochenour of Tustin, California. Digital photograph courtesy of Erik M. Cordova.
