Locality: Colby Mine, Peterson Mine, Gogebic iron range, Gogebic Co., Michigan, USA

Silvery-black specimen collected from the poor rock pile in the mid-1960s. Measures 2 1/4" across. Ex-Dr. E.W. Johnson Collection. Now David Johnson Collection.

My father attempted to obtain botryoidal hematite specimens from as many Wisconsin/Michigan iron mines as possible and succeeded in obtaining quite a few in the 1960s-70s.
