Liddicoatite is a member of the tourmaline group. A few pegmatites in Madagascar have produced superb, gem-quality examples of this unusual, intricately color-zoned tourmaline. Ex: specimen # 1243 from the collection of Mark H. F. Mauthner. Ex: Robert O. Meyer collection. The specimen is a slice, polished on both sides, of a large liddicoatite crystal that clearly shows the intricate color zoning that is highly desirable in specimens of this type. 7.5 x 5.8 x .3 cm.
