6.0 x 5.4 x 3.5 cm. The French Alps are renowned for their superb pink and red fluorite specimens, but they also produce some superb Alpine quartz specimens. This piece is a rarity among quartz specimens as the small, 2.0 cm parallel-growth crysta lying on the front of the large central smoky quartz crystal has a "Faden" (German word for string). All of the many smoky quartzes are water-clear, have nice smoky color, very high lustre and some of the sharp termination faces are preferentially frosted. An excellent and uncommon smoky quartz from Mt. Blanc, from the Bonisoli Collection # 6225.
