Malachite replacing a rodent skull. This was found about 15 feet deep in weathered Dakota sandstone. Found this spring (2010) while excavating for azurite specimens. In the same area human remains, also pseudomorphed to malachite and/or azurite were found that dated back to 12,000 to 15,000 years old. The two teeth fell out while cleaning and can easily be slid back into place. The color is slightly more green in person than in the image.

5.5cm x 3.5cm x 3cm and the largest of the teeth is 1cm long.
