Elbaite

Locality: Sahatany Pegmatite Field (Mt Ibity area), Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar

A beautiful gem quality bi-colored tourmaline crystal, single terminated, measuring 5.6 x 0.7 x 0.6 cm in size. Complete all around, no damage or chipping. The luster is very glassy. The top of the crystal is pink and water clear gemmy. The base is opaque and dark green. The quality is very high. Ex Lloyd Tate collection; previous label from the F. John Barlow collection.
