Locality: Payún volcano, Altiplano de Payún Matru, Mendoza, Argentina

An exquisite specimen from the new find of hematite pseudomorphs after magnetite crystals. This large specimen has rectangular shape with octahedral termination and elaborate hoppered growth on all 4 sides. One of the best specimens I have from this find Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x2x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: 6 cm.
