Corundum, Garnet

Locality: Winza, Mpapwa, Mpapwa District (Mpwampwa), Dodoma Region, Tanzania

Two fragments of a large crystal are still embedded together in the massive garnet amphibolite matrix. The crystal has a red core and a very dark blue skin. Obtained at the mine. Specimen size 122 x 83 x 84 mm. Larger crystal is 72 mm long.
