The origins of this mine went back to the second world war, but the quartz from here had too many inclusions to have any value for the war effort so it was abandoned for many years until Ed Swoboda, I and Osorio Neto resurrected it to produce quartz crystals that had beautiful phantoms in it.

At the mine site there were some blocks of sandstone that showed fossil ripple marks that were laid down millions of years ago in a body of water.
