Monazite-(Ce)

Catalogue number EHM_8094 of the collection of the Evje og Hornnes geomuseum, Fennefoss.

Many fine monazite specimens have been found in this quarry, though most of them require careful preparation like this one. I had to remove quite a lot of feldspar and biotite in order to expose the crystal in its full beauty.

This specimen was bought in 2003 at the Beryllen Minerlsenter, but was among the specimens collected in 2002.

Size of the crystal is about 23 x 17 mm.
