Tissint (Tata) Martian meteorite

Locality: Tissint Martian meteorite, Tata Province, Guelmim-Es Semara Region, Morocco

1.0 cm specimen of the Tissint (Tata) Martian meteorite. 3 views. Note black fusion crust. This meteorite is important because it was a witnessed fall found on 18 July 2011, meaning that the specimen is relatively free of significant earth weathering and contamination and should closely match the original meteoroid composition (olivine, maskelynite and pigeonite), helping researchers in their understanding of Martian geology.
