Locality: Lake George, Park Co., Colorado, USA

Lustrous black crystallized rosettes of goethite crystals without matrix. These goethite crystals form in the smoky quartz and microcline pegmatite pockets. Most commonly they decompose in situ, making well crystallized clusters like this one rare. Overall size of mineral specimen: 4x3x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: 10-15 mm.
