Fluorite

Locality: Middlehope Shield Mine, Westgate, Weardale, North Pennines, Co. Durham, England, UK

A cluster of pale green, lustrous, twinned fluorite crystals, up to 1.5 cm on edge, surrounding a tan sandstone-like matrix. The crystals have strong purple highlights caused by thin purple layers just below the cube face, and show vicinal growth patterns on the cube faces, as well as slight rounding on the cube edges. 8x6x6 cm overall size.
