Massive, nearly pure spurrite identified by X-ray diffraction and by electron microprobe analysis and described by Joesten R (1974) American Journal of Science 274:876-901. The side shown is a polished slab through the specimen. There is black magnetite within and a thin rim enriched in calcite.
